This signature collaboration between the Chilliwack Mural Festival and Chew On This Tasty Tours brings together two vibrant pillars of our community—public art and gourmet storytelling—to create “Stories on Walls + Plates,” an immersive journey where every mural and every bite celebrates Indigenous culture, local creativity, and shared experience.

Join us in the heart of Chilliwack’s creative district for an unforgettable evening of vibrant murals, Indigenous flavours, and inspiring stories. Hosted at the artisan-filled Homemade Community Shoppe, this immersive experience brings together art lovers and food enthusiasts for a journey through downtown’s historic District 1881.

Culinary Highlights

Drawing on her Sayisi Dene heritage, Chef Sarah Meconse Mierau of Tradish Food Truck, will serve up a choice of three traditional fry-bread tacos plus her signature plant-medicine lemonade.

Choice of Bannock Taco:*

  • Bison Bannock Taco (locally sourced bison, fresh toppings, house-made bannock)
  • Elk Bannock Taco (locally sourced elk, fresh toppings, house-made bannock)
  • Three Sisters Bannock Taco (vegan-friendly, featuring squash, beans, and corn, inspired by traditional Indigenous agriculture)

 

Plant-Medicine Lemonades:*

Refreshing, non-alcoholic elixirs infused with foraged medicines (choose your flavour at booking)

 

Guests will select their bannock taco  and lemonade preference at time of booking. There will not be any food for sale on site.

PRIVATE CONCERT

Let the soulful strings of Métis fiddler Matt Cook-Contois and his accompanying guitarist wash over you in an intimate acoustic set. Drawing on his Misipawistik Cree Nation roots, Matt weaves traditional fiddle melodies with warm, modern guitar tones—creating a laid-back, heartfelt soundtrack that perfectly complements our evening of art and community.

Homemade Community Shoppe sits next to Chilliwack’s historic District 1881, a curated boutique showcasing over 50 Fraser Valley artisans—think handmade ceramics, beaded jewelry, preserves and fiber art. With its welcoming indoor market and relaxed patio, it’s the perfect gathering spot to browse local crafts, connect with makers, and settle in for an evening of art, culture, and flavour.
