Five More Places to Explore in BC, Canada

The follow up to our original list of places to explore beyond Vancouver

SALT SPRING ISLAND

A ferry ride on BC Ferries from Vancouver or Vancouver Island the laid back pace on one of the Gulf Islands will keep you coming back.

One of our favourite times to visit is during the Salt Spring Apple Festival. It definitely took a hit during and post-Covid but we are hopeful that it will return to its former glory if not a reimagined and improved experience. Always the first Sunday in the month of October, this opportunity to step onto the farms in Salt Spring, meet the farmers and taste their take on apples is memorable. Discover over 200 different varieties of apples while there.

HARRISON HOT SPRINGS

This lake is surrounded by mountains and makes for breathtaking views. We have been on the eagle watching boat in the late Fall and seen hundreds of eagles along with other wildlife and gorgeous scenery.

Harrison Hot Springs has natural hot springs that are located in the Hot Springs Hotel. We highly recommend going to the Healing Waters Spa, but until the hotel itself gets a long overdue facelift we suggest staying at a different location close by.

FORT LANGLEY

More than a historically-rich village, this Birthplace of BC is located near the Fraser River and is home to numerous boutiques, bakeries and bistros.

Our LOCAL GOLD Fort Langley Tasty Tour takes you from sips to bites to views and connects you with the community to get a true taste of what this charming village is all about. The approximately five hour tour touches on a little bit of everything and allows you to immerse yourself like a local in just a short period of time.

MAPLE RIDGE

In a stunning location, sandwiched between a range of mountains and the Fraser River, you’ll find this community that is rich in agritourism with a bustling and ever-growing walkable downtown area.

We love walking along the many dykes, visiting the farms for fresh produce or to visit the baby goats and lambs. And if you are looking for great food, you’ll find that there are numerous options.

We currently offer a walking tour of the downtown core called LOCAL GOLD that takes you on a food-focused adventure to discover this part of Maple Ridge.

Starting April 2023, look for our newest driving culinary tour where you drive yourself on a Tasty Tour of farms, markets, cafes and restaurants all focused on hyper-local.

WHITE ROCK

Another opportunity to dip your foot in the ocean is in this City By The Sea, White Rock. With a beachfront strip full of stores, bars and restaurants to cater to your every whim you will have no problem finding somewhere to eat.

And then there’s the ocean! From stormy seas to sunny days the boardwalk offers a long walk from east to west beach. And don’t forget about Canada’s Longest Pier! You may be lucky enough to view whales and sealions and dolphins out in the water during the summer months.

If you want to explore Upper White Rock as well as the beach area we have a combined walking and driving tour to give you an introduction to the area that includes chocolate, fish and chips and some other delicious places!
